FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
South Portland, ME (July 7, 2008) --- BelaHockey, a line of hockey gear and apparel produced exclusively for girls, has the perfect gifts to get your hockey girl out on the ice this winter. Founded by a group of local hockey moms and hockey legend Cammi Granato, BelaHockey has updated and redesigned traditional gear with fun graphics and patterns to allow girls to express their personality and style on the ice. Products are available at www.belahockey.com.
BelaHockey’s custom youth hockey sticks have been a hit with the girls since the store launched in December of 2007. These light-weight sticks feature fun polka dot graphics in either pink and purple or blue and purple. The sticks can be personalized with a player’s name and number to create a one-of-a-kind stick. The unique sticks are an ideal gift for any girl interested in skating on the ice this winter.
“My daughter had never played hockey before I purchased her a BelaHockey custom stick,” said Beth Penny of South Portland, Maine. “She couldn’t wait to get out on the ice last year after I bought her one. She was so proud to have something made just for her.”
Parents are also big fans of BelaHockey’s Katie Kap, an innovative sports band that keeps the hair out of players’ eyes while on the ice. The Katie Kap was inspired by Katie Granato, Cammi Granato's 10-year old cousin, who used to wear a cut off t-shirt sleeve on her head during practice because nothing else was available. The Katie Kap is made of soft cotton to keep heads cool and a little lycra to stretch comfortably around players’ heads. Girls can wear the Katie Kap underneath their helmets on the ice or just for fun off the ice.
BelaHockey also offers an exclusive line of long-sleeve cotton tee-shirts, custom hockey socks, and cool-max wicking skate socks in fun colors and designs. BelaHockey was inspired by Bela Cloutier, a six-year-old from Portland, Maine who wanted desperately to keep up with the boys in her neighborhood but couldn’t find any equipment that made her feel as though she belonged.
